Good news for those of you serving in the US military – Google has just announced that all US service members will be able to make free calls home no matter where you are in the world.
As long as you have a valid United States Military email address, you’ll be able to call any home phone phone number in the US for the awesome price of zero dollars a minute.All you need to do is add a valid .mil email address to your Google Account, and you’re set.
Make calls through Gmail using the voice and Gmail plugin (if you haven’t already). If you’ve been longing to call back home but haven’t been able to due to the exorbitant overseas rates – what are you waiting for?
There are two easy steps to enable free calling from Gmail (detailed instructions):
- Add your valid .mil email address to your Google Account
- Click on the Call phone link at the top of the Gmail chat roster and install the voice and video Gmail plugin if you haven’t already.
