ALTAF HUSSAIN URGES THE GOVEREMNT TO CALL A ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE IMMEDIATELY

THE NATION SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO CONFIDENCE OVER THE CURRENT SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has urged the government to call a round table conference (RTC) of all religious and political parties within next 36 to 48 hours in the backdrop of highly sensitive and consequential state of affairs. He said that the RTC should be called if the government cared even a little about the sovereignty and freedom of the country.

He said that he was anxiously waiting for the policy statements from leading religious and political parties in the backdrop of current highly sensitive and critical situation in the country. He was forced to express his sentiments responding to the voice of his conscience because of continued silence of the big religious and political parties.

He said that the chief of army staff Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, chiefs of air force and navy and the head of ISI should also be invited to the round table conference. He declared that we should take the nation into confidence about the raid of American helicopters and the presence of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad in the vicinity of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul.

He said that the nation should be told about the operation by the US helicopters and commandos of US navy SEAL. He also questioned the continued silence of the government, heads of armed forces, ISI and unclear statements the foreign office.

He said the Pakistani nation always stood by the armed forces the governments in difficult times. He said that nearly all the countries of the world were criticizing the Pakistani government and security agencies. This situation was a source of outright embarrassment for the Pakistani people and they were grieved at the criminal silence of the government and intelligence agencies.

He said while the world was accusing Pakistan and the situation in Pakistan was being closely monitored by the US administration, the Prime Minister chose to go out of the country on a foreign tour leaving the nation behind. He also regretted the holding of oath-taking ceremonies at this critical juncture.

He said that every Pakistani wanted to know as to how the border of a sovereign and independent Pakistan was crossed without our permission. How was it possible that a raid was conducted well inside Pakistani territory? How was it possible that the raiders managed to leave unhurt and undetected? How come the government and intelligence agencies remained in the darkness about it?

He said that the Pakistanis were greatly concerned about the security of our atomic installations in the present circumstances. It was time that the government and the intelligence agencies made a clean breast of their negligence. It was time that they apologized to the nation before it became too late.

He said that he had spoken like a true Pakistani and if anyone was hurt with his statement then he would tender his apology. He said that Allah knows full well the intentions of his slaves.
