Chasing this huge total, Ireland lost its captain at the first ball but Stirling (32), Joyce (32) and NJ O’Brien provided some momentum. But KJ O’Brien’s thrilling 113 and Cusack’s 47 dragged the team to the brink. Mooney who picked 4 wickets played a responsible innings to lift the victory for the minnow in 49.1 overs. Swann was the only bowler who took 3 wickets.
England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and chose to bat first and put a huge total of 328 runs against the weak opponents.
